Sorry I've been MIA for so long! We finally made our long awaited move to Tennessee and I, at last, have settled in and have my scrapbook room up and running. Those who know me know how crazy I am about Sock Monkey so it only seemed natural to rename my blog: stampingwithsockmonkey.com. I hope you will join me on my new adventure!Jane Starrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17396699299375762418noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4654157418544277337.post-39091165548295891682011-12-04T13:57:00.000-05:002011-12-04T13:57:11.883-05:00Making Dry Erase Boards and Coasters with Tiles

Hi Stampers!

It's been a long while since I posted but I wanted to share a picture of the Dry Erase Board and matching Coaster I am making for Holly. For those of you who aren't aware, her baby (a little boy!) is due on Christmas Day! I'm making this for his nursery. I made the matching coaster to sit on the stand next to her rocking chair for the coffee I know she is going to need!

If you would like more information on how I made them, leave a comment or drop me an email and I would be glad to share.

Happy Stamping!

One last reminder...today is the last day for ordering from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I used the Build a Blossom Stamp Set (#121923) and matching Blossom Petals Punch (#121808) to make the flower. I cased the design from a card by Dawn Griffith (my upline!). The flower was embossed with white embossing powder and I added some Dazzling Diamond glitter to the petals and the flower center. I used Baja Breeze cardstock, Springtime Vintage DSP, Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon, and the Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. You can find all of these products in the Occasions Mini Catalog which will be available through April 30, 2011.

Happy Stamping!

I wanted to show you the picture frame that Holly made for her boyfriend. It was made using a retired stamp set called "Boatloads of Love". I was so sad to see Stampin' Up! let this stamp set go. I still use it quite a lot. Holly also used Basic Black, Night of Navy, and Pink Piroutte card stock, and the Sanded background stamp. She embossed the boat and phrase with white embossing power and the background stamp with glassy Glaze embossing powder. She plans on putting a picture inside of the two of them together. Isn't that sweet?

Thanks for letting me share!
(And a cute pin for me)Today is Holly's 21st Birthday! It seems like such a short time ago we were welcoming her into the world and now she is a grownup, beautiful, young woman! Where did the time go??? To celebrate her "coming of age", her dad, grandparents, brother and sister-in law, and boyfriend and I are taking her out on the town for a few drinks. I already got her a cute Tshirt announcing her age and a glass to take with her, and she has some cute "21" earrings she will wear as well. I didn't want to be left out and I also wanted the credit for helping to create such a gorgeous masterpiece so I made a little button for me to wear!

I used Riding Hood Red card stock, Daffodil Delight Cardstock, and a retired Stampin' Up punch. I probably should have used the flower from the Boho Blossoms punch or perhaps the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack but I just grabbed the first flower punch in my reach. I printed the words with MY DIGITAL STUDIO and sponged the paper with Riding Hood Red Classic Ink.

Sorry I've been MIA these past few weeks! Between Stampin' Up! Regionals, a visit from my best friend, the Scrapbook Expo, a visit to Disney's Epcot, several trips to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, and a great visit with our nephew (who was on R&R from Afghanistan) and his wonder wife and children, I've barely had the energy to go into my craft room, let alone craft anything!

Today's post is a glimpse of the Easter Treats I managed to finish for Hannah's Kindergarten class this week. I used the So Cute stamp set that I received free during Sale-a-bration! Since she has both boys and girls in her class, I decided to use Bashful Blue and Daffodil Delight card stock since it was appropriate for both although I doubt they saw anything past the m&m's!!!.

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Birthday to Me! Yes, today is my birthday and Larry is taking me back to Orlando to visit Epcot! Disney offers free admission to all their parks on your birthday! Yahoo!

Not only is it my birthday, but it is also Holly's boyfriend's birthday AND his twin sister's! What an awesome day! He is great guy and I wanted to do a little something for him so Larry and I got him an Itune gift card and I made a gift card holder and matching bag and card.
SwapsHello!

Here are two more swaps I received. I needed two thank you cards so I will stamp a "Thank you" sentiment on the other card. (The beauty of a card like this is that it can be used for anything and is a great card to have on hand because you can personalize it to fit your needs.)
The Orlando Regional was awesome! Holly and I had so much fun, got to meet Shelli and a lot of other fabulous, talented ladies, and learned so much. I can't believe how fast the day flew by! Here are a few pictures of the event:

This is another one of my swap cards I am bringing to Regionals. I used Old Olive and Pink Pirouette card stock for the base of the card and stamped the bonsai plant from the Plant Hope stamp set on Crumb Cake card stock using my Chocolate Chip and Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers. The sentiment was punched using the Modern Label Punch and I added two Basic Rhinestones on each side. (I used two of the littlest ones from the Rhinestone strips.) Both the label and the plant are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals. The Japanese girl from the Dream Gardens set is stamped with Pink Pirouette Classic Ink and the border and plant were embellished with Dazzling Diamonds. I also added some Pretty in Pink 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon at the top of the card.

Thanks for stopping by!
It is a Waterfall card. They are so fun and easy to make and I think this is officially my favorite type of card....this week anyway!

The base of the card is Pear Pizzazz and is cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". Next comes a layer of Greenhouse Gala DSP cut at 4" x 5 1/2". I used the 1 1/4" Circle Punch and cut a half circle at the bottom. A small strip of Daffodil Delight cut at 3/4" x 4" goes about two thirds of the way down and is secured it at each end with two matching brads. The actual "waterfall" is a piece of Daffodil Delight cut at 2" x 9" and scored at 2", 2 3/4", 3 1/2", and 4 1/4". Stamp your image on a piece of 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" and layer if on a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock cut at 2" x 2". (I used a stamp from the Forest Friends set which is free with a $50 order during Sell-a-bration through March 31, 2011!) Starting at the bottom, attach each image at the score line. Slide the longest part of the "waterfall" underneath the small 2" x 4" strip and center it on the card. Fold the image part of the waterfall down and add adhesive only to the center of the small strip to hold the last square in place. Add a small piece of ribbon at the bottom and gently pull on it to see the waterfall effect.

It is fun to add different images to each piece but I think it looks cute with just the one image, too. I probably made it sound more complicated than it is so I will try to make a video when I get back from Regionals.

What better way to start the day than with Sock Monkey!!! I love Sock Monkey! I have Sock Monkey slippers, Sock Monkey PJ's, Sock Monkey clip-ons, and I collect almost every Sock Monkey I see. The smallest one I have is actually a cat toy and is only a few inches tall and the largest one I have is about 3 1/2 - 4 foot tall! Today's share is a birthday card featuring you-know-who...
So.....I went to my local dollar store and found a magnetic pocket holder that had two separate pockets on the front. I cut it down the middle so I could make one for each side of my car and I decorated them. What do you think? I just slip it into the inside of my car door as I get in my car so they don't blow away when I'm driving and then pull them out again the next time I am in a parking lot!

The leaf is made with Certainly Celery cardstock and the Sizzlits Little Leaves die.

As promised, today's share is a video tutorial showing how easy it is to get an embossed look with Versamark Ink, Clear Embossing Powder, and a Heat Tool. I have probably already mentioned this in the past, but I have purchased several heat tools before I discovered Stampin' Up! and I can honestly say ours is the best I have ever used and I always get great results. (It also helps that Stampin' Up! uses only quality tested embossing powders!) You can see the original card I made here.

I have been working all week on my swaps for the Stampin' Up! Regional next week in Orlando. This is one of the six cards I will be bringing. I am making 20 of each card to trade so I will have lots of samples to show you when I get back.
The measurements and layers are as follows:

*Chocolate Chip CS - cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

*Crumb Cake CS - cut at 4" x 5 1/4" and stamped with the En Francais backgound stamp in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink
*Chocolate Chip CS - cut at 3 1/4" x 4 1/2"

*Chocolate Chip CS - cut at 3/4" x 4 1/2" and punched with the Pinking Heart Border Punch. I attached this to the right hand side of the previous layer.

*Regal Rose CS - cut at 3" x 4 1/4"

*Very Vanilla CS - cut at 2 3/4" x 4" and stamped with the En Francais background stamp in Regal Rose Classic Ink

*The heart is from the Crosses of Hope Stamp set and was stamped in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink on Very Vanilla CS. It was then cut out leaving a small border around the edge and sponged with Regal Rose Classic Ink.

*Next, I applied Versamark Ink to the cross and covered it with Clear Embossing Powder. Using a pair of tweezers to hold the image in place, I applied heat with the Embossing Tool. The cross is embellished with a Basic Pearl and the smallest butterfly from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die using Daffodil Delight CS and Dazzling Diamonds.

*The banner is a piece of Very Vanilla CS cut at 5/8" x 4 1/4" and stamped with the Crosses of Hope Stamp set in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink. I scored a line 1" from each end and again 1/4" from that score line and folded to get the banner look. I bent the ends together and cut at an angle to get the fishtail look.

The second Chocolate Chip CS Layer and the cross is raised with a few Stampin' Dimensionals and everything else was attached with Snail Adhesive except the yellow butterfly which I attached with Tombo Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

I have been asked more than once how I got the embossed look on the cross so I will post a video tomorrow to show you how easily it is done.

I was visiting Mary Fish's blog today and found the cutest St. Patrick's Day card designed by Sue Smedley that I just had to case! The only thing I did differently was to add a few Basic Rhinestones. Everything else on her card was just too cute to change. I'm going to send it to my best friend, D'Ann, who lives about two hours away from me. We use to always celebrate St. Patrick's Day together when we were younger and have fond memories of the holiday. (Did I mention we are both Irish?)

The supplies used are:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Garden Green, Certainly Celery
Ink: Classic Garden Green
Marker: Garden Green
Stamp: Lucky Shamrock
Punches: 1" Circle Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Small Heart Punch, 1 1/4" Square Punch
Accessories: Basic Rhinestones, Dazzling Diamond, Two Way Glue Pen

On another happy note, Cody came home from college today and is going to finish out his school from home! Well, maybe not home, but nearby. He is trying to get his old job back and hopes to get his own apartment in the next couple of weeks and start school locally. It is so good to have him near again. Ohio is too, too far from away from Florida! (I like to think he missed me, but I think he was just tired of the cold weather!!!)

Thanks for stopping by!
